Geriatrician
Our medical school is searching for a geriatrician to join an Academic Practice Group. The ideal candidate will be Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine and CAQ Eligible in Geriatrics, have both interest and experience in a clinical, Geriatric practice and will participate in all aspects of academia, including clinical care, research and education. The time will be divided approximately 75% to clinical practice, 25% teaching medical students, residents and fellows. Physiatrist
Inpatient/Outpatient rehab mix positions in Boston and Berkshires area. First position is at a 53 inpatient acute rehab with shared physiatry service. Typical inpatient rehab, stroke patients, general neuro, cardiac, general deconditioning, pulmonary, etc...small percentage of TBI, some ortho but most "straight/clean" TKR's, THR's, etc. go to the skilled nursing facilities due to medicare changes. Call schedule is 1 in 5 for weekends which involves going in on the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday for ~3-4 hours to round on patients and do new admissions. There is always a PA or an NP there to share the load on the weekend. Proportionate amount of holidays, it's a rotation and there are 7 recognized holidays. Same deal as weekends in that a PA/NP share the load and do most of the notes. The only time the physiatrist has to treat medical issues is on the weekend and holidays. For all positions after 2 years (sometimes 1 if negotiated with the contract), the MD goes on productivity. This is when they are guaranteed the same base salary they started with and then a percentage of net income beyond that. The net income is based on their productivity as well as any PA's/NP's productivity that is done for the doc. The only other place that the physiatrist would travel to, would be a couple of local subacute units in long-term care facilities to consult on those rehab patients that used to be in rehabs but aren't anymore due to Medicare changes. They would be facilities that one of our MD's is the attending and consult them. This is a great location and our docs have been established in this rehab for over 15 years. The outpatient clinic is on the first floor of the hospital and there is a medical assistant available for all their administrative needs. Second position is a great position for someone who possesses leadership abilities and has the personality to grow business. They would also have the opportunity for productivity and profit sharing for the whole area out there, not just their work. They would work with one of our other physiatrists there who currently does inpatient acute consults and outpatient pain management. The new physiatrist would need to manage all the medical and rehab needs of the patients on a 25 bed inpatient rehab unit but they also have a seasoned full-time PA sharing the load and doing the bulk of the notes, documentation, etc. This position will grow to include at least 2-3 subacutes in the immediate area but that service would be a consulting one only and would most likely come with a medical directorship stipend. We currently have a great PMR doc as the medical director there but he is part-time and looking to take a sabbatical soon to travel. The Berkshires is a beautiful area....many private prep schools, spas, outdoor sports, skiing, etc. It is a nice hospital system with a large intern program for physicians. Calif. Coast Opportunity
An opening exists for an adult psychiatrist to work on a small inpatient unit in a community mental health setting. Needed is one more staff psychiatrist to work with one other adult psychiatrist, a program manager, a nurse manager and 2 psych social workers, and an OT. The outpatient social workers come to the morning staffing on the unit to help with discharge planning so that there is smooth communication between inpatient and out patient services for patients. There is a contract with a physician assistance group to come in and do the history and physical health evaluations on the admitted patients. Once the patient is discharged from the inpatient unit, if qualified, they are sent to the sub acute residential program. The team of doctors share the nights and weekend coverage and are paid for each night and weekend of call. There are about 2 or 3 admissions a day on average. There is also an opportunity to do consults at the hospital. This is also a teaching hospital, where the psychiatrist will have an opportunity to work with the residents.
